Expand/collapse blockMove block Information for course "Get Them Talking! How to elicit responses from your students"
Description: If you are having a problem with classroom participation, this professional development course will help you be the teacher that gets responses. You will learn steps and techniques that help teachers elicit responses from their students and to make your class extremely dynamic while also providing a safe and comfortable atmosphere for students to learn in. This professional development course can be completed in 2 weeks or less with 50 hours of class time.

Objectives: One problem that many teachers face is getting their students to talk. Speaking in another language can be quite intimidating. They may not have the confidence that other students have or are just afraid of making a mistake. This happens with everyone who is learning a new foreign language. However, we have designed a course with the objectives to get your students talking. The basic TESOL courses are excellent for learning the information and how to teach the information, but this course is meant to engage students.

If you are having problems with engaging responses and dialogue with your students then you should take our Get Them Talking! How to elicit responses from your students. The objectives of this class are for teachers to:

o Learn different ice breaking techniques to build confidence and laughter in the classroom
o Design lesson plans that engage students rather than creating lectures to avoid the problem
o Help teachers to come out of their shell so that they can bring their students out of their own shell
o Apply different teaching techniques that elicit responses from students.
o Discipline students for classroom behavior to create a better learning atmosphere
o Group exercises that involve children to speak at the same time to warm up their skills

As the teacher you must create the classroom's environment. Students must feel safe and that if they make a mistake that they will not be scrutinized for doing so. The more active and engaged the class is the freer your students will feel to engage in the conversation and to participate in the class. If you are having problems getting your students to talk, try the ESL professional development course, Get Them Talking! How to elicit responses from your students.
