Expand/collapse blockMove block Information for course "Youth (K-8)"
Description: Children from Kindergarten to the 8th grade can excel in their English language acquisition from different teaching approaches. That is why we have created this specialization course that will provide ESL teachers with valuable teaching tools and techniques for teaching young learners. As a student of this course, you will learn how to maximize your teaching time with your students so that you as the teacher can teach effectively while your students are learning actively. This course can be completed in as little as 2 weeks, which includes 50 classroom hours.

Prerequisite: Due to the advance pace and terminology used in this course, in order to register for this course you will need to have completed a 100-hour or more TESOL/TEFL certification program.
Objectives: In many cultures, English is an important language to learn and that is why you are an ESL teacher and have an opportunity to teach abroad. However, you may be finding it difficult to connect with your younger students from grades kindergarten to 8th grade with just the basic 100-hour course. Many of our TESOL students come back for more with our ESL specialization course for Youth (K - 8). The main goal in this course is to teach teachers how to connect with their younger students.

Children in grades kindergarten through 8th want to focus on what is fun and not necessarily on academics. This is especially true for children who are taking English classes instead of enjoying their free time after school. Therefore, this course’s objectives deal with how to reach your younger students so that they realize how important learning English is and more importantly, how fun it is to do so. Other objectives include:

• Learning new icebreaker techniques so that children get to know each other and you better.
• More learning with games and fun abstract activities to learn English.
• Making the most out of the class in group exercises.
• Creating a dynamic and fun learning atmosphere.

If you need to add a little more fun into your classroom activities, the ESL specialization course for Youth (K – 8) is the perfect place for teachers to get started.
